Larry Boik is a finance and business executive experienced in multi-national organizations that range in value from $150M to $1.5B. He brings experience in all areas of leadership and management with strong expertise in financial aspects of buying, selling and running a business. As chief financial officer and president of international business at Silgan White Cap, he led financial, human resource and procurement functions for the $900M manufacturer of caps and operating units in Latin America and Asia. Larry and his wife Peggy are preparing to open their own small business in Naperville. This “hands-on” personal business venture positions him well to work with other small business entrepreneurs in the community. Larry’s daughter and son-in-law are recent graduates of North Central College.
Martha Carney, executive director of ConVerge, was born to be an entrepreneur. Her career spans innovation and new product development within the pharmaceutical and energy industries. Between corporate leadership positions and raising three children with her husband John, she launched and sold two Naperville startups – one a 10-year lifestyle business called The Golden Pear and a second called Outsourced Innovation, a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) conducting field research on clean technologies. She is an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship and advocates for women in leadership roles by mentoring to cultivate confidence, especially in STEM fields.
Chetan Chawla has unique qualities combined as an entrepreneur, faculty member and researcher of business strategy. He has 5+ years of consulting experience with clients ranging from Fortune 100 defense companies to Indian retailers and technology companies. He brings previous startup experience advising companies in Los Angeles and Boston, and is involved in CardinalLaunch, North Central’s faculty-led and student-run consulting firm that services the needs of local startups.
Tamara Fay is the founder of TKFay Consulting. The company has a 25-year track record of success developing leadership, management and customer service training programs for small to medium size companies. Tamara brings a unique passion for helping women especially in overcoming challenges in career transition. Tamara has a 10-year history working with North Central College providing professional development training for the business community. As a female entrepreneur she understands the importance of building a business with quality, consistent services and hard work.
Waldon Fenster is chief executive officer of Vast Solutions, which he co-founded with his wife Danielle in Downers Grove, Ill. The international marketing agency has clients and employees located around the world. His expertise is online marketing and web design and is experienced in contracting with a range of companies from large companies like Discover Card and Subway to a variety of startups. Waldon’s passions are working with non-profits, creating internships and doing charitable work.
John Joseph is a marketing and advertising professional with over 30 years of experience in the professional services and software industries where he worked with well known brands including Bank of America, FedEx, Delta Air Lines, Patagonia, and Roto-Rooter. He has been an executive with start-ups, VC-backed organizations, and divisions of NYSE companies. John is currently an Assistant Professor of Marketing at North Central Collge and works closely with ConVerge, North Central’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Amy M. Toepper is a founder and principal of AMT Law with offices located both in Naperville and Chicago. Her firm specializes in corporate and employment law. Amy also heads up her own company called Legal In A Box. Legal In A Box provides subscription-based legal services and forms that exclusively focuses on legal issues facing business owners, entrepreneurs, and start-ups. It provides three different packages that in exchanges give individual businesses the incentive to reach out to their own attorney and get ahead of potential problems before they become serious. Amy is a Board member with Women With Drive Foundation located in Chicago, www.womenwithdrive.org/home, a local non-profit providing women in financial transition with cars. Amy lives with her two children and husband in Naperville, Illinois.
Tom Keretes is founder and managing director of The TEK II Group. He brings deep industry experience in procurement, supply chain management, innovation and “white space” within the industrial gas, chemical, and refinery industries. His sales and marketing knowledge has helped bring hundreds of new initiatives to market. He is an expert in helping entrepreneurs understand how to execute a business plan and helps address barriers to success. Tom graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a degree in engineering. He currently resides in the Naperville area with his wife, Katie.
Kris Boros is a product management and startup guru. He has commercialized more than 25 products as relates to hardware and SaaS solutions that cross numerous business verticals. As Head of Product & Business Operations at Westcon (A Synnex Co: NYSE: SNX), he leads the Digital and Unified Communications products for North America.
Kris knows how to bootstrap startups. He leads efforts in ad-tech development and is Co-Founder, CTO and member of the Board of Directors at Century Club, a data company providing on-premise analytics and tracking of out-of-home consumption and measurement for the Beverage Alcohol segments in the Hospitality channel.
His ambition was launched as a graduate of North Central College in Psychology, with advanced education from the McCormick School of Engineering, The Kellogg School of Management with degrees in Industrial Engineering and Product Development and with an MBA in Finance.
Randy Micheletti is the founder of Incubate IP, a law firm built specifically to provide emerging companies top-quality patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, licensing and other intellectual property counseling at startup-friendly rates. Randy began his career as an intellectual property lawyer in some of the world’s most prestigious law firms, where he helped large and small companies build strong patent portfolios in the chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, medical device, and energy industries. He regularly speaks about IP issues to entrepreneur groups and in academic settings. In his spare time, Randy serves as a board member for the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra (www.svso.org) and performs with several musical ensembles in the northern Illinois area.
